Black Lives Matter Campaign

At DISH, we’re dedicated to nurturing and maintaining an inclusive, just environment. That’s why, in partnership with the African American Network, we’re launching our Anti-Racism Campaign.

This campaign highlights actions that we, as a company, are taking to ensure equality in the workplace as well as how you can personally combat racism.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll see different posters, social media posts and HOP stories that ladder up to this message. We hope you’ll spend time taking in this content and thinking deliberately about what you can do to be a part of the solution.

To kick off the campaign, we want to highlight some of the actions DISH is taking to foster an anti-racist environment.

  • In 2019, we focused on attending more diverse career fairs, such as the Atlanta University Center Consortium and National Black MBA Association fairs.

  • We rolled out an unconscious bias training that all DISH employees completed. The training focused on raising awareness of our own biases and how they may impact our team and future hires.

  • We’ve partnered with three different companies focused on providing more diverse sourcing for potential new hires. We’re working to add several additional vendors next year as well.

  • Our hiring teams have completed a diversity sourcing training that focuses on names, schools, groups and associated keyword searches, such as using natural language keywords to search for candidates.

  • We launched an awareness campaign to explain why diversity, equity and inclusion are necessary and highlight relevant personal stories.

These are just some of the steps we’ve taken so far and we will remain committed to creating a fairer, more inclusive workplace going forward as well.

Stay tuned for more stories, posters and social media posts focused on how we can all play a part in fighting racism.

Poster Series: Microaggressions

Microaggressions are subtle, harmful statements that many people have said/heard before, but that few people who say them fully understand the impact of. By showcasing examples of common microaggressions, this approach aims to catch people’s attention through the statements’ relatability and focuses on the unlearning/relearning that people still have to do.

Social Media Posts: Allyship and Education

This concept focuses on the importance of being an ally without centering the discussion around oneself and educating oneself on Black and American history. Each post includes a different list of resources that provide a starting point for readers.
